Work out what it costs before you send it

Most people sending money home are paying for one particular thing — a parent's health cover, school fees, rent, a plot of land. Our planners let you price that thing properly, in CAD, before any money moves.

Sending directly to a person you choose is in development. We will say so here when it is ready.

Built by people who were already sending money home

Five Four Financial was started in Canada by people who were already doing this every month, and who wanted something better than sending cash and hoping it reached the right place.

That is why the planners exist. You should be able to see what you are paying for, pay for it directly, and keep the receipt.

Where we send

Two corridors are live today. We will only list a country here once money actually moves to it.

What it costs: Low, transparent pricing. Currency conversion uses the mid-market rate plus a transparent margin. No monthly fee, and no charge to hold a balance.

Trust and security

Moving money is a regulated business. Here is what that means in practice.

Registered with FINTRAC

We are registered with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada as a money services business. Registration number M21256121, held by Kunye Financial Inc..

Identity verification on every account

Every customer is verified before they can move money. The checks are run by a specialist verification provider, as anti-money-laundering rules require.

Encrypted in transit

Traffic between your device and our systems is encrypted with current TLS. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form.

Your wallet, your orders, your receipts

Check your balance, send to a saved beneficiary, browse what your vendors are selling, and see the status of every order in one place.

Screens from the current build. The iOS and Android apps are in testing and still carry the Kunye name while the rename completes.

Questions people ask

How long does a transfer take?

Most transfers complete within minutes. Some take a few hours, depending on your bank, the receiving bank, and the compliance checks we are required to run. If a transfer is taking longer than that, contact support with the transaction reference.

What does it cost?

Low, transparent pricing. Currency conversion uses the mid-market rate plus a transparent margin. You see the fee and the amount your recipient gets before you confirm anything. There is no monthly fee and no charge to hold a balance.

Which countries can I send to?

Today: within Canada, and from Canada to Nigeria. Kenya and other African markets are next. If your country is not open yet, ask us to notify you and we will write once, when it opens.

What is a cover planner?

A short set of questions that shows you what a particular thing costs, priced in CAD, before you send any money. The family health cover planner is the first one and is currently in testing: it asks who you are covering and shows you matched plans from licensed providers, with the hospital network near your family. It is free and you do not need an account to see your results. Planners for school fees and property payments are in development.

How do you keep my money safe?

We are a FINTRAC-registered money services business, registration number M21256121. Every account is identity-verified before it can move money, and traffic between your device and our systems is encrypted.

What do I need to sign up?

A Canadian address, a government photo ID such as a passport or national ID, a photo of yourself, and a Canadian bank account to fund from. Verification usually takes a few minutes and you only do it once.

What if something goes wrong with a payment?

Email support@fivefourfinancial.com with the transaction reference from your account. We can trace the payment with our payments partner and tell you where it is.
